Ever since its existence as a technology company, post Microsoft buying the devices division, Nokia has been vocal about re-entering the consumer space, albeit in new avatar. The time has come for Nokia to build its own reputation from scratch and what better way than bringing out its own large form size device, running on Android.
That's exactly what the Finnish brand has done and the tablet brings back the memories of their N Series folklore. The tablet is called N1 and there's a lot of iPad reminisce to it than the company would have liked. The tablet comes with a 7.9-inch 2048x1536p or QuadHD resolution display. Powered by Android 5.0 Lollipop, the stock version, N1 comes packed with a 2.4 GHz quad-core Intel Atom chipset paired with 2 GB RAM and offers 32 GB storage. The tablet is fairly thin at 6.9mm and with 318 grams as the overall weight, N1 will come across as a lighter alternative to the iPad. If you look at the product release shots, the grills, speaker positioning and even the camera's placement, all come across as borrowed design from here and there, rather than imbibing originality. It comes fitted with an 8 MP rear camera and a 5 MP shooter on the front has been provided as well.
The most interesting aspect about the N1, however, is that it manages to hold up our attention with its reversible-type lightening connector like USB port at the bottom. We really don't know much about the port's functionality but more about that will be shared in the coming months.
Foxconn has been entrusted with Nokia's first-ever Android tablet and will be reaching out to markets across the globe by early 2015. There's more to the Nokia N1 tablet than you think. Nokia, as highlighted over the past few weeks, will allow major OEMs to use its product design, branding and the newly launched Z Launcher via the licensing agreement both the parties manage to sign up.
So, get set for Nokia's tryst in the tablet arena with N1 which will be making its way to countries like China, Russia and of course, India very soon, priced at $249 (Rs 15,200 approx).
